Hello Everyone. Now that I have
rested and recovered from a wonderful week of competition, I wanted to take the
time to come on the boards and thank everyone that was involved in my dream to
become Miss Gay USofA. I want to begin by saying that I am very honored and
privileged to be serving as Miss Gay USofA 2010. I have dreamed of this moment
and now that it is a reality, it is hard to grasp. I am dedicating my year to
work for the system and be completely involved in its promotion and growth
across the country. Being a National Titleholder is more than just wearing the
crown and looking pretty. For me, it is also a year of service to strengthen the
system that I represent and continue to build on the work of the titleholders
that reigned before me. I am excited about this year and I hope to make many
friends across the country.
First I would like
to thank Jerry Bird, President and CEO of USofA pageants. This moment would not
have been possible had you not had a dream and started Miss Gay USofA. I thank
you for creating a system that allows me to present myself in a way of my own
choosing. It gave me the strength to step out of my box and transform into a new
individual. In the short time that I have been your queen, you have embraced me
as your daughter and made me feel very special. I look forward to a wonderful
year and building a lifelong relationship with you.
To Jeremy Burnette
and Celeste Holmes, my Miss Gay Georgia USofA promoters. I must thank you for
being the best promoters that I could have hoped for. I went to Georgia in March
with hopes of winning the title. But fate had something else planned and I
finished as first runner-up. I must say that you never made me feel that I was
any less important to you. Your belief in my abilities was incredible. You
supported me wholeheartedly and gave me the emotional support that I needed to
do something that my heart desired. You were there for me every step of the way.
When I was discouraged you became my crutches and carried me some of the way. I
love you both immensely and I will be forever grateful.
To my dancers,
family, friends, supporters, MGA family, MGAR sisters, sisters across the
country and Tajma Hall. I would love to list all of you individually but it
would take up so much space. LOL! I want to thank you all for believing in me. I
must thank you for traveling this road with me for the past four years. I know
that at times I can be something to deal with, but you stood by me one hundred
percent. Words can never express the gratitude that I feel for your hard work in
rehearsals, buying costumes, building props, making mixes, listening to me
gripe, watching me cry, sprain my ankle and all the things that came with it.
But I can honestly say that I could not have done any of this without any of
you. You were the foundation on which my house was built. When the storms came,
you were strong and did not waver or crack. I love you!
To my Miss Gay
USofA Sisters and Family. I just want to say that I hope to make each of you
proud and build upon the work that you have done. You have set the bar high, but
I am ready to take the torch and continue the race to greatness. I am proud to
be a member of the family and I look forward to getting to know each of you
more.
To the Gay Community and USofA promoters. I am your queen! Without you, I
wouldn’t be where I am today. I thank you for embracing this art and giving me
the opportunity to be a star. My dreams of being an entertainer came true
because of you. I am here in any way that I am able. I want to be involved in
any events that I can be useful. Please feel free to call or email me when you
would like me to be of service. I am here to work for the community and pageant
system as a whole.
Last but certainly
not least. Pooh I thank you for standing by me through it all. I know it is
sometimes difficult to stand by someone chasing a dream. You were there every
step of the way. I cannot thank you enough! Your dedication to me is
unrelenting. Thank you for being my rock!
In closing, I want to say that I hope that I have not left anyone out or made anyone feel that they were not important. It was not intentional. I want to thank the CarrieFairfield Staff for allowing me to post this letter. It’s important for me to let people know that they are appreciated. I look forward to a wonderful year. This is going to be a year that I will never forget. I love you all and hope to see you very soon!
Sincerely,
Dominique Sanchez
